The “she’ll be right” attitude, often viewed as a pillar of the New Zealand collective psyche, has taken on the form of “the shed will be right” for dairy farmers in the Timaru region.
NBR reported that the Timaru District Council is concerned with reports that 54 dairy sheds in the district are lacking code compliance certificates. The council has sent letters to farmers requesting information on what stage the building is at, and reminding farmers to apply for the certificate once the work is completed. The problem may not be confined to the region with concern that the situation in Timaru may be indicative of a nationwide issue.
Code compliance certificates are an important step in any building project and farmers who do not have one may risk losing cover under their insurance policies.
