Building a better home for kiwis

Kiwis for Kiwi is a charitable trust that allocates funding to a number of on-the ground kiwi projects around New Zealand. Kiwis’ for Kiwi was officially launched in 2012 and has taken over the mantle from the BNZ Save the Kiwi Trust.

  • Kiwis for Kiwi is involved in the following:
  • predator control and monitoring;
  • research into kiwi conservation work;
  • habitat monitoring;
  • BNZ operation nest egg;

to name a few.

Kensington Swan is a proud supporter of Kiwis for Kiwi.

Last Friday I was lucky enough to head out to Kapiti Island with the Kiwis for Kiwi crew to learn some more about kiwi conservations and see the DOC workers in action. Kapiti is the largest accessible island bird sanctuaries and home to over 1200 little spotted kiwi (and countless other native birds). It was a really insightful trip to such a fantastic place.
